The life of  Russian revolutionary poet Vladimir Majakovskij in a comic book story thanks to Laura Pérez Vernetti

Laura Pérez Vernetti, spanish illustrator, revisited the life of Majakovskij in a graphic novel version. The artist who lives in Barcelona, already author of illustrated stories dedicated to Pessoa, Kafka, Maupassant and Joyce, now presents the life of the famous Russian poet in a comic book edition.  "I have only opted for white, black and red’’, so Vernetti explains the choice of colors  utilized in her last work, those that best represent the revolutionary character of the russian poet whose life is retraced in its crucial steps: from the birth in a georgian village in 1893, the approach to poetry and theater, the love for Lilja Brik until his death by a mysterious suicide occurred on 14 April 1930.

Laura Pérez Vernetti started her career in 1981 on the comics magazine "EL VIBORA" in Barcelona together with  scriptwriters such as Carlos Sampayo and Joseph Marie Lo Duca. She preferably deals with literary themes adapted to Graphic Novel, the experimental comics, erotic comics and, for about ten years, the poetry in Graphic Novel, with her 4 books: PESSOA & CIA, THE MAJAKOVSKIJ CASE,  POEMIC and RILKE which will be published on November 2016.

She published and displayed  her illustrations in Spain, Italy, Germany, France, England, Sweden, Portugal, Argentina, Mexico and Switzerland.  "The Majakovskij case", the tribute of Laura Pérez Vernetti to the brilliant russian artist, comfirms the purpose of the catalan artist  of adopting a new form of expression: the graphic poetry.

Do not miss the encounter with the eclectic spanish illustrator during the XX edition of Romics.
