Comic-books Contest

Libri a Fumetti, the Contest dedicated to the world of comic-books, that in the recent years has rewarded eminent authors such as Paco Roca, Robert Kirkman, Gipi, Igort, Canales and Pellejero, makes its return at the 21th edition of Romics (from 6-9 April 2017).

Romics is continuing with its efforts to promote and publicize with great accuracy the reading in Italy  through a contest  that brings together  the most interesting  publishing releases of the ninth art published in our country.

Libri a Fumetti involves artists from different backgrounds , providing a wide and complete offer of  the latest news in Italian and International scene, both thanks to the presence of renowned artists and the New Talent section, where the most promising pencillers will be awarded.

The Contest provides  10 Prizes: Grand Prix Romics, Special Jury Award, Best Book of Anglo-American School, Best Book of European School, Best Book of Italian School, Best Book of Japanese School, Best Reprint Edition, New Talents Award.

Romics devotes an ever-increasing space  to the books in competition, both spreading them through the communication channels of the festival,  and through an exhibition within Romics which allow visitors to view all the books.

There are important innovations about the jury of this edition, with some of the eminent jury members who arrive at Romics from  lands  apparently faraway from those  of comics art: journalist Piero Melati, Romano Montroni, president of  Centro per il libro e la Lettura – Cepell, Enrico Fornaroli, President of Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna, great expert of Comics. A choice made to emphasise the gradual shrinking between comics and traditional narrative.

The contest is part of  various initiatives signed by Romics which have the aim to give further impetus to the promotion of reading in Italy, strongly believing  that the graphic novel, the creativity in comics are amazing means of cultural expression crossing geographic borders  and above all any kind of cultural barriers. The award ceremony will be held on 9 April 2017 at Pala Romics.
